Where Are These Three Nollywood Stars?

For many fans of Saint Obi, Hilda Dokubo and Steph-Nora Okere, the whereabouts of these actors has almost become a mystery. They have asked several times where these 'once upon a time' celebrities are without cogent answers supplied to them.

A look into this movie, 'The hour Has Come', which featured these actors brings back memory of good acting skills unlike what is being witnessed today.

The film, shot in 2004 and directed by Ifeanyi Azodo and produced by the duo of Gabriel Moses and Damian Moses
. Other stars in the movie are Patience Ozokwor, and Cynthia Okereke.

Looking back into this movie only makes one keeps asking 'where are these Nollywood stars

“I HAD 16 WIVES BUT ONLY 4 ARE LEFF” — BABASALA

Baba sala
Hours with Veteran Actor, BABASALA @ 77
Talks About His New Life in ILESHA
+ How He Runs His C & S Church
His name is synonymous with Comedy in Nigeria. Many of those who watched TV in the 70s and 80s will still remember him vividly. Everyone simply called him Baba Sala. His stage name was Lamidi Sanni alias Baba Sala. But his real name is Moses Adejumo Olaiya (MON). He was the undisputed King of Comedy on TV and on Stage with his big signboard-like Bow-tie and Table clock size wristwatch.
He was more than that. He was a dramatist, singer and Yoruba actor who was regarded as one of the fathers of modern Nigerian comedy. That’s why many believe that the history of Comedy, TV drama and Stage play in Nigeria cannot be written without highlighting his contribution.

In those good old days, at 7pm every Wednesday night on NTA Ibadan, many people in Ibadan and all its surrounding towns and villages, in the South West, usually would rush home to watch his Alawada Comedy Show.
He, along with other dramatists like late Hubert Ogunde, Kola Ogunmola, Oyin Adejobi, Duro Ladipo and many more, helped to popularize Theatre and Television acting in Nigeria.
So successful did he become that his name became so popular all over Nigeria and he got a National Award of MON.
But he suffered a little set back when he dabbled into film production and produced his first film Orun Mooru, which was pirated before he could make his money back.
One of his 4 tapes was stolen and mass produced. He lost so much money and had to sell off 2 of his houses which he used as collateral for the N500,000 loan he got for the project from National Bank.
So devastated was Baba Sala that he nearly committed Suicide. That was then.

Now, at 77 ,age has mellowed the very active veteran actor who now lives in Ilesha his hometown, Osun State. These days church activites take a lot of his time. He is an Elder Apostle in the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Unification Church. No.1 model parish in Ilesha.
Because he is now an old man he does not have the vitality and energy he used to exhibited when he was much younger.
He also has a hotel called Statward Hotel.
Last week, we went in search of Baba Sala in Ilesha and found out that old age has mellowed the Ilesha actor who now lives a very quiet life.
What’s your day like, he was asked. “These days, it’s all about church activities” he explained. “I am an Elder in my church. I do less of acting or theater work. I have been a member of C&S even before I started acting”.
Can he still act? He says “why not? Yes I can, if I am invited and if they can get a role that would make me sit down throughout”.

“Acting is in my blood. If I have to act, I can still act”.
Not many know that he started out in life as a civil servant – a sanitary Inspector. After work, he would shed off his sanitary inspection (Wole Wole) garments and go for teaching part-time work in the evenings.
Late evenings, he would go round town collecting daily thrift contribution (popularly called Ajo by Yorubas).
Late in the night, he would transform and this time, into a highlife musician. Baba Sala started his career as a highlife musician, in 1964 with a group known as The Federal Rhythm Dandies where he tutored and guided Juju music maestro, king Sunny Ade who was Baba Sala’s lead guitarist.
So the story of King Sunny Ade is incomplete without the mention of ‘Baba Sala’
KSA commenced his music career under the tutelage of the then Moses Olaiya Orchestra, a high life musical group, where he picked up his talent as a music future hope. The group later deviated to Theatre act.

How does he see his acting career?
“I have been through the rough roads of life”, he says. Moses Olaiya said it all: “I never knew comedy would become something that ambition before but I never thought I will be an actor or will do comedy” I dont know my career was going to be this successful.
He traced how he came about the name, ‘Baba Sala’, I started off acting in pidgin English. Infact, I won an award at the old WNTV/WNBS.
Then one day the Controller of Programmes, Ayo Oguntade now advised me to change to Yoruba. So I took up the name Lamidi Babasala, Wosilat is Iya Sala Ade Love was Amuda. It was first Lamidi Sanni alias Baba Sala, then Baba Sala was coined one of my wives Karile coordinated the women.
I had 16 wives but only 4 are left. Iya Sala is not my real wife she was only my stage wife “which he said was chosen because he started out in a predominantly Muslim community.
Though a Christian, he chose the names “Lamidi Sanni Oropo, Baba Sala.” His stage wife, Iya Sala, he fondly called ‘’Wosi Wonkoko’. He chose his youngest wife to be Sala because of her small size. According to him, the second wife fitted properly into the role.

5 Unique Teas With Amazing Health Benefits

Teas can be an excellent alternative to drinking coffee thanks to their low (or no) caffeine content and variety of health benefits. Some teas are thought to be detoxifying, while others have antioxidant or anti-inflammatory properties. You can pick your teas based on the flavors you enjoy or your individual health goals.

The following five teas may not be familiar to you, but they have some great benefits that could help you shake up your morning routine. All but one of the teas listed are naturally caffeine-free, so you don't have to worry about replacing a coffee habit with more caffeine.

1. Nettle tea

Nettle tea is a rich source of calcium, B-vitamins and iron. These essential nutrients serve a variety of functions, including promoting bone health, deriving energy from the food you eat, and carrying oxygen in the blood. Nettle also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may make it helpful in treating conditions like arthritis, heart disease and diabetes. Nettle tea can help increase breast milk production in new mothers with low milk supply. This tea has a mild flavor on its own, or you can blend it with green tea and peppermint.

2. Hibiscus tea

Made from the brilliantly colored hibiscus flowers, this tea is a rich source of the potent antioxidant vitamin C. Antioxidants are essential for neutralizing damaging free radicals. Vitamin C is also important for keeping the immune system strong and for collagen formation. In addition, some research suggests that drinking hibiscus tea may help lower blood pressure.

3. Fennel tea

Fennel is a carminative, meaning it helps the body get rid of gas and prevents gas formation. In other words, fennel tea is an excellent digestive aid, and indeed, drinking fennel tea (or eating fennel seeds) is a traditional remedy for indigestion. Fennel’s therapeutic effects may be due to its ability to mildly speed up movement through the digestive tract, making it especially helpful for constipation.

Petrol price ‘fix’ cost motorists £300bn

MOTORISTS have paid up to £300BILLION too much for petrol in the last decade, it was claimed last night — as a price-fixing probe was launched into Shell and BP.
The two oil giants face criminal charges and massive fines if they are found guilty of rigging the cost of fuel.
Shell Centre London raided cops
Raided ... Shell's office in South London
Their alleged actions have falsely pushed up petrol prices for Britain’s 30million drivers — potentially costing each one thousands of pounds.
The Petrol Retailers’ Association yesterday estimated that if each motorist lost £10,000 over the decade the overall cost would be close to £300billion.
Tory MP Robert Halfon
'National scandal' ... Tory MP Robert Halfon
A petrol industry source said: “It’s impossible to put an exact figure on the loss but it will be hundreds of billions — £300billion is a fair estimate.”
Protest groups said any petrol price fixing would also have raised the cost of food, clothing and everyday goods, shut businesses with the loss of jobs — and helped spark the UK recession.
BP and Shell’s offices in London were raided on Monday as part of a Europe-wide investigation.
The giants are accused of working together to fix the price of oil and green biofuels for their own gain — pushing up the cost of petrol and diesel at the pumps.
The oil price reporting agency Platt is also being investigated, along with the Norwegian company Statoil.
The shock European Commission probe has echoes of the Libor scandal when banks fixed interest rates for their own gain — but potentially has much more of an impact on the average consumer.
It comes after YEARS of campaigning by The Sun to cut the cost of fuel.
Petrol prices have soared by more than 80 per cent to 136.24p per litre since 2002 — prompting our Keep It Down campaign.
Former haulier Peter Carroll, a founder of campaign group Fair Fuel UK, said: “Even the tiniest fraction of a penny on the cost of petrol multiplied up by the billions of litres sold will be a huge amount of money and will have caused huge suffering.
Road Haulage Association boss Geoff Dunning
'Encouraging' ... hauliers boss Geoff Dunning
“Businesses will have been lost, livelihoods destroyed and families will have been under the cosh longer and harder than they needed to be.
“The price of everything could have gone up because of this. Fuel is to the economy what oxygen is to the body.
“Every part of everyone’s lives, even if they don’t drive, is affected — 97 per cent of everything we eat, drink, wear or build will be carried by a diesel truck.”
Mr Carroll said the price of crude oil surged from $93 to $147 a barrel within a few months in 2008, which “could have kicked parts of the world into recession”.
The group’s spokesman Quentin Willson said the alleged scandal is worse than the Libor fixing.
He insisted: “This has potentially cost the UK economy hundreds of billions of pounds. There are costs to businesses and families which they wouldn’t have had to pay otherwise.
“Globally it has cost trillions.”
The Petrol Retailers’ Association said it had long been suspicious of freak wholesale price rises — jumping as much as 5p in less than a week.
Chairman Brian Madderson said: “Such volatility has been a relatively new unwelcome market phenomenon which cannot be explained to confused and irate customers on our forecourts.
“We hope this Europe-led investigation will help to provide the proper price transparency that consumers and businesses deserve and need.”
Quentin Willson fuel campaigner
'This has cost trillions' ... Quentin Willson
The Road Haulage Association welcomed the probe. Chief executive Geoff Dunning said: “This is extremely encouraging for the motorist, the haulage industry and the UK economy.
“At a time when businesses are desperately trying to get back on their feet after several very difficult years, there finally appears to be a light at the end of the oil pricing tunnel.”
The European Commission suspects firms “colluded in reporting distorted prices” to agencies that publish oil and petrol figures.
It added: “Even small distortions of assessed prices could have a huge impact on the prices of crude oil, refined oil products and biofuels purchases and sales, potentially harming final consumers.”
The Office of Fair Trading was widely criticised yesterday for not probing price fixing fears more thoroughly. In January it said it found “no credible evidence” of wrongdoing.
BP and Shell said they are co-operating fully with investigators. They could face billions of pounds in fines if found guilty of price fixing.
Dr Andrew Pressey, head of marketing at the University of Birmingham, said in the last two decades firms in general have paid out a total of more than £198BILLION in fines globally for price fixing.

How To Get Better Sleep Naturally

Having issues sleeping at night or do u sleep and wake up several times at night for not being able to sleep well? Here is a better solution to that
Getting a good night’s sleep is essential to health and optimal brain functioning, but a staggering 30% of the population suffers from insomnia, and over 10 million Americans use prescription drugs to help them sleep.

So why is it so hard for us to hit the hay, sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed? There’s no doubt that stress plays an important role in sleeping difficulties, but I also believe that our modern way of life has caused us to develop some bad habits that can make getting a good night’s sleep seem like a distant dream.

We could all do with changing our bedtime habits and giving ourselves the restful sleep our bodies and minds crave! Here are a few tips to do just that:

1. Get enough.

While you may think you function ok with just five or six hours sleep, the truth is, it's not enough. Sleep cycles occur in four-hour patterns; brain waves gradually slow to a deep, restful state around the two-hour mark, then slowly speed up again to a lighter dream-filled sleep at four hours before repeating the whole cycle again.

When we wake up after six hours, we're actually forcing our brain out of a deep sleep state rapidly and shortening that rejuvenating deeper phase essential for repairing our bodies and minds. If we get eight hours, we wake up at the end of two complete cycles and our brains are already naturally at the faster phase between sleeping and waking, enabling us to start the day feeling refreshed and energized.

How Yoga & 12-Step Recovery Saved My Life

Hello, my name is Nikki. I am a recovering alcoholic, addict, the survivor of childhood and adult sexual trauma, co-dependent, survivor of domestic violence, a recovering compulsive spender, and a love addict.

And today, because of the wisdom and practices of yoga, along with the tools of 12-step programs, I can say those things with as much gratitude and grace as I also say that I am a yoga and somatic therapist, an M.B.A graduate with honors, the founder of two successful businesses, a mother, and a grandmother. All of these experiences are a part of who I am.

Today, I can truthfully say that I hold it all equally divine.

Free from the guilt and shame that once bound me, I can tell you that today I am an integrated whole. It’s my experience, strength and hope through addiction and relapse, four marriages, prostitution, domestic violence, jail, institutions, and the deaths of not only unique and brilliant souls who I've had the privilege to know, but also the death and resurrection of my own soul, that I offer this story with the hope that somehow, it brings insight into yours.

There are situations and people in our lives that occur as absolute muthaf$#ka’s — at least at first. Some of mine have been some of the aforementioned things: domestic violence, prostitution, addiction and relapse, divorce, death and of course a couple of ex-husbands.

Here is the gist of it all: I started using drugs and alcohol when I was 14 years old and followed them down the road to hell until I was 34.

I was literally the poster child for an “at-risk” life, with all the social and psychological “perks” that it brings.

In 1987, through the help of an amazing friend and the support of some people who love me, I found a treatment center that introduced me to the 12-step program — and it saved my life.

During my first eight years of chemical-free living, I completed my BS degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and my MBA graduating Delta Cum Laude. I moved from Indianapolis to Boston, co-founded a software company, and co-authored a meta data integration patent.

And then... After eight years of living drug and alcohol free, living the life I that I'd dreamed of, I relapsed....hard.

After another hell ride, I somehow stumbled back into the 12-step program. It was at this point that I was re-introduced to yoga. (I had started yoga back in the 70s, but men, money, and drugs became more interesting...)

Through the physical practice, I began to experience a deep reconnection to my body. I started to perceive yoga as the way out of addiction, and made it the basis of my recovery, leaving the 12-step program behind.

I stayed clean that way for four years during which time I moved from Boston to Chicago and then back to Indianapolis and then...I relapsed again.

The Major Rule for Eating Fruit

There's no doubt that eating fruit is important to our overall health and well being. Fruit is healthy for you, we all know that, but, it's good to know that eating it should follow some general guidelines to fully benefit our health. It's just not as simple as putting it into our mouths whenever we feel like it. Learn about the proper ways to eat fruit and your whole body will thank you with less digestive problems and tons more energy.
Incorporating fruit into our diet, the proper way, gives our digestive system more powerful benefits through vitamin intake and improved digestion. Looking at the nutrition of fruit, most fruits are a great source of fiber, potassium, vitamin C and folate and so much more. Their nutrients help guard against disease, lower rates of heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. However, eating fruit carelessly without any nutritional knowledge could bring on more problems to our health than benefits. Here is the major rule about eating fruit:
Fruit should be eaten alone or with other fruit on an empty stomach.
This is because when fruit is eaten, the digestive process works very quickly and our body uses different enzymes to digest the fruit. The simple sugars contained in fruit need time to be completely absorbed by your body. When fruits are eaten alone, your stomach can more easily process all of the nutrients, fibre and the simple sugars contained in the fruit. This is the optimal 'proper way' to benefit from the fruit you eat. If you eat fruit close to a meal, especially right after a larger meal and combine with other foods, it's held in the stomach too long along with other foods and will rot and ferment in the gut. If you experience indigestion, heartburn, burping and and other digestive discomforts and you blame on the meal - it could be the combination of the food, the fermentation with fruit that causes your upset stomach. If left uncontrolled it could lead to other health problems that stem from the digestive tract.
Applying this rule is very simple. We eat approximately 3 large meals a day, so space out your fruit servings in between. If this means you need to glance at the clock occasionally and calculate when you could eat the apple you brought along with you, then you do that. And aim to have it about 1 hour before a meal, or 2 hours after your meal. For heavier meals, like pasta or burgers, you need to let that food digest for even longer before you add fruit with all its acid into your stomach, about 3-4 hours. If you've just had a mixed green salad for lunch, same rules apply but for a much shorter time, about 1.5 hours.
The best time to eat a bounty of fruit is either first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, or as a mid-morning snack (which I prefer) - in between breakfast and lunch. It's a good idea, to just eat more fruit at one time, whether it's fruit salad, an apple or a fruit smoothie. (3-4 servings of fruit is a proper daily requirement, that's 2 1/2 - 2 cups of fruit). If you feel very hungry after your fruit servings, pay attention to what you've had for breakfast and maybe your meal planning needs to be adjusted. You should be able to wait it out about 1-2 hours with success. That will ensure all the fruit is processed and gone into your body to do what it's supposed to do.
Definitely avoid eating fruit close to bedtime as there's plenty of sugar in fruit to spike up your energy and keep you up when you need your sleep.
Smoothie lovers! It is fine to consume nut milk or coconut milk with fruit, but in small amounts and not every time. Therefore, nut butters, nut milk, or non-dairy yogourt (such as soy) will not strain the digestive system too much. And adding a single serving of a low-glycemic fruit, such as an apple to your green smoothie will be fine and will not create a lot of problems for you as long as you keep the fruit serving to a minimum and it too is consumed apart from a larger meal. However, ideally it is best to stick with eating raw fruit alone - or leave alone!
Dried fruit holds the same recommendations. Keep in mind it's also too sweet and too addictive. Limiting portions of the dried fruit you eat is essential - think of a date as a special occasion ;)
If you do eat fruit on an empty stomach, you will gain the proper nutrients that fruit - nature's perfect gift - will offer to your health and wellbeing. You will avoid most digestive problems, feel energized, promote weight loss and you'll look and feel fantastic because your body will be fully absorbing all the vitamins, fiber and healthy carbohydrates that it needs to function in good health.

Nicki Minaj Leaving ‘American Idol’

 Nicki Minaj Leaving American Idol

Nicki is reportedly ‘OK’ with her decision to leave the Fox competition series. Will you miss her?

Well, here’s some news that should surprise… absolutely no one. Though Nicki Minaj has yet to release an official statement, a source close to the “Super Bass” singer tells Us Weekly that she won’t be returning to American Idol as a judge next season.
“It’s safe to say she isn’t coming back to Idol,” the source says. ”She’s OK with it. She had a great time, but was only going to do one season anyway.”
Nicki, 30, will reportedly focus on touring, putting out another album and making good on her endorsements.
If the rumors turn out to be true — which, let’s face it, they will — Nicki will join fellow judge Randy Jackson on his way out of the Idol family. He released the following statement, announcing his departure:
Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season,” he told Us in a statement on May 9. “I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It’s been a life changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.

Nicki Says Working On ‘Idol’ Has Been ‘A Dream’

During a visit to the American Idol set last month, HollywoodLife.com asked Nicki if she was returning for another season, and her answer was dodgy — to say the least:
I think people would rather be surprised. I like to save the mystery and the drama. I never give that away, but you know what? I always say this, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, that just the people behind the scenes at Idol have been just like a dream to work with and I really, really honestly mean that.
What say you, HollywoodLifers? If Nicki ends up quitting American Idol, will you miss her? Drop a comment with your thoughts on her potential departure!

Nollywood actress Camilla denies witchcraft confession at T.B Joshua's Church

Nollywood actress Camilla denies witchcraft confession at T.B Joshua's Church

Nollywood actress Camilla denies witchcraft confession at T.B Joshua's Church

An associate of the actress explained the situation on her behalf. On Sunday April 28th, the actress appeared on T.B Joshua's televised deliverance programme on Emmanuel TV, but contrary to earlier
reports that she confessed to being a witch, her associate says she never did.

She went for deliverance because she felt that an evil force was making life difficult for her.
Her associate explains:
"Camilla never confessed to being a witch. There was an evil spirit that possessed her and it was the evil spirit that spoke through her.
That does not make her a witch. You all should go spiritual and see all the things that go on around you. She took herself to church. Witches don't take themselves to church for deliverance.
Witches don't operate that way.
The evil spirit said, not Camilla said, so please let's understand this before we start calling her a witch.
Camilla returned to the church the following week to say she has been delivered 'from every bondage of Satan in her life' and her visit to the church had totally tranformed her life. Good for her!
