It is very difficult not to like Tope Alabi. This is because the ebullient songstress' voice seems to be everywhere you turn. From loudspeakers blaring at record shops and street corners to Yoruba films, it seems Tope is everywhere trying to teach one moral lesson or the other.
Highly sought after, her calendar is usually booked year round, and even still, many more wait on the queue patiently for the time she'll be available.
Based on the interview we granted her estranged spiritual father, Prophet Ajanaku, in which he made some remarks about her, we sought to hear her side of the story. Ever since the story of a rift between them broke out, Tope Alabi has not spoken publicly concerning the matter. But in this exclusive interview with E24-7 MAGAZINE'S EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, BIODUN KUPOLUYI, she bared her mind. Enjoy:

There is this disturbing news going around that you have deserted Prophet Ajanaku's church and left him unceremoniously even though he has done a lot for you?
You see, if not that it's you, I won't talk about this. The truth about the issue is that, since four years ago, God has been revealing some things to me about the church and even people have been leaving his church en-masse for the past seven years because different strange things have been happening. We have actually seen a lot of things. When I first met him, that year something happened, but because I liked him and was willing to help him, I stayed. I know how I met the ministry then and how it is today. I have made a name then but it was in 2006 that people started hearing his name in my records though he said that he has been my spiritual head for the past twelve years. He says a lot when he is on the altar and he even embellishes the story, but I just look at him without saying anything.

How they styled it: Exactly as we would expect. Spears wore the dress over cropped leggings with brown wedge sneakers and her hair pulled back. Her competition, however, went for a more romantic look. Swift belted the frock at the waist and layered it over a floor-length lace skirt with prim purple footwear and a vintage hat.

Judge's scorecard: Spears was wise to pick a fresh and flirty piece, but what she paired it with was not ideal. Still, at least she wasn't wearing sweats! Obviously, Swift put a lot more thought into the look, and it shows.

When they wore it: Simpson, 28, and J.Love, 34, showed off the frayed shorts on June 2, while 40-year-old Sims sported them on June 13.
How they styled it: Hewitt, who announced her pregnancy and engagement just one day apart and only two days after this photo was snapped, chose a white button-down shirt and nude wedges. (Those shorts are a bold choice for anyone, particularly someone who'll soon be shopping the maternity section!) Simpson decided that a black top and military jacket and black ankle boots were the way to go. When it was her turn to rock the shorts, Sims went with a dark sheer top, a tangle of necklaces, and printed wedges.

Judge's scorecard: It's between Simpson and Sims on this one, because they're both wearing tops that better complement their shorts. Sims also has an edge thanks to her fun footwear.

Michael Jackson's mom faces cross examination in death trial

Michael Jackson's mother faces more questioning Monday from a lawyer for the concert promoter she's suing in her son's death.

Katherine Jackson became "confused and tired" when AEG Live lawyer Marvin Putnam asked her "some pretty complex questions very fast" during his cross examination Friday, her attorney said.

"She was trying to answer the questions the best she could," Jackson lawyer Brian Panish said. "I think maybe she lost her temper a little bit and she tried to restrain herself in a very Christian-like way."

The judge adjourned court two hours early Friday when Jackson told her she needed to rest, but she resumes her testimony in a Los Angeles courtroom Monday morning.

She is the lead plaintiff -- along with Michael Jackson's three children -- in a wrongful death lawsuit against AEG Live. The suit contends the agency is liable in his death because it hired, retained or supervised Dr. Conrad Murray, who is serving a prison sentence for involuntary manslaughter in the pop icon's death.

AEG Live lawyers, who will begin presenting their defense once Katherine Jackson's testimony ends, promised in opening statements 12 weeks ago to show the jury "ugly stuff" to prove that Michael Jackson was responsible for his own death.

Royal baby on the way, Catherine enters hospital in labor

As a nation and the world awaited news of a child who could one day sit on the British throne, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was experiencing a normal labor Monday morning, Kensington Palace said.

The duchess and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital, his office at Clarence House announced at 7:37 a.m. (2:37 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.) Kensington Palace issued a progress report about 90 minutes later.

The hospital, next to Paddington Station in London, is where William and his brother Prince Harry were born.

The tweet later bites her back as some fans thought she is a bad woman for tweeting an adult fact on general social networking site like Twitter.

“You guys smh, (shake my head) you took the sperm fact and took it to a whole new level”.
“So stating a fact about sperms or sex makes me a terrible role model, am nothing but myself it’s rather hypocritical to pretend it doesn’t exist,” she tweeted again.
Her claim is partly right because according to scientists, male semen contains some amount of calcium that is good for healthy teeth but the whitening fact is a bit shaky.

Rap legend Jay-Z is tired of Rihanna’s recent controversial behaviors, Q102 reports.
The rapper runs Roc Nation, which is the label the singer is signed to.
He is said to be concerned by the controversy surrounding the Barbados-born star recently, including wild partying and her late arrivals for performances while on the Diamonds World Tour.
As Rihanna’s mentor, Jay-Z has apparently warned her to calm down, but his advice seems to be falling on deaf ears.
“Jay-Z is at the end of his tether. Despite numerous interventions with Rihanna and intense heart-to-heart meetings, Jay-Z despairs that she isn’t taking his advice seriously,” a source told the latest edition of UK magazine Look. “But there are only so many times you can tell someone something, and they ignore you, before you stop. It’s hard for him as he loves Ri dearly and wants to help her, but she won’t listen right now.”
In a last ditch attempt to tame her worrying behavior, Jay-Z is now attempting to schedule another face-to-face meeting with his protégée.
He reportedly hoped they could catch up while both in the UK for the recent Wireless festival, although it is not known whether this meeting took place.
“He was trying to coordinate their diaries so they could chat. He wants her to enjoy herself but he worries about her,” the source finished.
This follows recent reports claiming Rihanna received a written warning from Roc Nation about her antics.
In June a source revealed that concerns had been raised with the star already.
“Everyone can see Rihanna’s not behaving herself. Fans have paid hundreds of pounds for tickets and she’s regularly showing up hours late,” an insider sighed. “Then she often gives lacklustre performances where she even forgets her words at times. They issued a written warning which was emailed to Rihanna.”

Woman raped in Dubai faces jail sentence

Dubai (CNN) -- Norwegian interior designer Marte Deborah Dalelv has spoken out after being handed a 16-month prison sentence in Dubai -- after she went to police to report she had been raped by a colleague.

The 24-year-old was convicted and sentenced on charges of having unlawful sex, making a false statement and illegal consumption of alcohol.

Her story is dominating the headlines in Norway, and has raised serious questions over the way women who allege sexual assault are treated in the United Arab Emirates.

Dalelv, who had been working at an interior design firm in Qatar since September 2011, told CNN on Saturday how a work trip to Dubai in March with three colleagues turned into a nightmare.

She said she had been out at a bar with her colleagues and friends, and asked a male colleague to walk her to her room when they returned at 3 a.m. to the hotel. She'd asked him to escort her because the hotel was large and confusing, and she didn't want to be wandering on her own, knowing she'd been drinking, she said.

When they reached a room, she realized it wasn't hers -- but the man then pulled her inside despite her vocal objections, according to Dalelv.

How Governor Akpabio’s Missing $250,000 Were Recovered

Akwa Ibom – Bundles of mint-fresh dollars, valued at over $250,000 (about N40 million), which reportedly disappeared late last month from Governor Godswill Akpabio’s bedroom at the Akwa Ibom state governor’s lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, have been recovered intact.

 It was learnt last month that the missing dollars, kept in drawers in the governor’s bedroom, were stolen while he was away dinning with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa a fortnight ago.

But reports reching us say that the missing money was recovered a week after it disappeared — found by an electrician invited to carry out minor repairs on one of the air conditioners inside the governor’s bedroom at the lodge.

Mr. Akpabio, well-known for his profligacy with state funds, had reportedly ordered the dismissal of three stewards working at the lodge, suspecting they stole the funds. However, the trio knew nothing about the missing money.

The culprit, a senior Akwa Ibom officials close to the governor said, was actually one of the drivers attached to the office of the governor’s Special Representative in Abuja, who is the caretaker of the lodge.

The driver reportedly sneaked into the governor’s room and removed the dollars from where they were kept. Because of the security around that section of the lodge, he cleverly tucked them inside the compartment of the air conditioner until a more convenient time he would be able to smuggle his fortune out.

Officials said a week after the money was declared missing, it was observed that one of the air conditioners in the governor’s bedroom malfunctioned.

The driver plotting to steal money was, ironically, detailed to fetch an electrician to fix the failing AC ahead of the governor’s next visit. The electrician was called in as he had handled similar repairs in the past at the lodge.

On their way to the lodge, according to officials, the driver confessed to the technician how he had left “something” valuable inside the air conditioner, and which he expected him to retrieve for him, promising a huge reward if he did so successfully.

However, because of the extra security arrangement in place around the lodge following the incident, it was learnt that it proved difficult for the electrician to deliver on his promise, as one of the security operatives working at the lodge was promptly detailed to supervise the repairs.

On opening the air conditioner for repairs, the electrician was reportedly surprised that, true to the driver’s earlier hint, there was a carefully wrapped parcel inside the appliance, preventing the system from functioning normally.

The electrician was said to have promptly alerted the security operative detailed to work with him about his find; and on opening the parcel, it was discovered that bundles of the missing money were actually inside.

Afraid he might be held as suspect in the incident, the electrician reportedly confessed to the operative about the favour the driver had sought from him on their way to the lodge.

The money was promptly handed over to the governor’s aide, who on breaking the good news to the governor, was ordered to give the electrician N1million cash as reward, while the dismissed stewards should be recalled immediately, although they were redeployed to other assignments.

The fate of the driver remained unclear at the time of this report.-Premium times

Democracy is readily associated with freedom: the freedom to be free in many respects and increasingly in Nigeria, many of our compatriots, particularly persons in positions of privilege and authority confuse this with the right to be disagreeable. The sober truth is that democracy is about rights and responsibilities, a democratic dispensation therefore cannot be a licence for disagreeable conduct as a norm; just as the possession of power in any form does not guarantee the right to be reckless or to ignore the etiquette required of office holders. Anyone in the corridors of power, either by chance or right, or appointment, is expected to behave decorously.
