Hehehehe: Restaurant Sells Breast Milk Ice Cream

Martini glass: Victoria Hiley, 35, has provided her breast milk although the restaurant are looking for more donors

When a well-stocked ice cream parlour says they sell every flavour, there are usually limits.

But one restaurant in London is selling breast milk ice cream which is being served to customers in a cocktail glass. uwillcgossip.com

Icecreamists, based in Covent Garden, have named the £14 dish Baby Gaga.
Victoria Hiley, 35, from Leeds provided the first 30 fluid ounces of milk which was enough to make the first 50 servings.

But the company are looking for more women to provide breast milk - and are providing £15 for every ten ounces extracted using breast pumps.

The recipe blends breast milk with Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest, which is then freshly churned into ice cream.

A costumed Baby Gaga waitress serves the ice cream in a martini glass filled with the breast milk ice cream mix. Liquid nitrogen is then poured into the glass through a syringe and it is served with a rusk.

It can be served with whisky or another cocktail on request.
Mother-of-one Victoria said: 'I saw the advert offering to pay women to donate breast milk on a forum and it made me laugh.

'There were so many comments and people were having a debate on whether it could be genuine. So I thought I'd find out.'

Another 13 women have volunteered to donate their breast milk.

To maintain the highest standards, health checks for the lactating women are exactly the same used by the NHS to screen blood donors.

Ms Hiley added: 'It wasn't intrusive at all to donate - just a simple blood test. What could be more natural than fresh, free-range mothers milk in an ice cream?'

Victoria works with women who have problems breast feeding their babies.
She said she believes that if adults realise how tasty breast milk actually is, new mothers will be more willing to breast feed their own newborns.
'You can kid yourself that its a healthy ice cream!' said Victoria.

'But it is very nice it really melts in the mouth. I teach women how to get started on breast feeding their babies. There's very little support for women and every little helps.

'I'm passionate about the good that breast feeding does for babies.'
Founder Matt O'Connor, 44, is confident his new ice cream will go down well with the paying public.

'The Baby Gaga tastes creamy and rich. No-one's done anything interesting with ice cream in the last hundred years,' he said.

'We've came up with a method of infusing ice-cream with breast milk. We wanted to completely reinvent it.

'And by using breast milk we've definitely given it a one hundred percent makeover. Its just one of a dozen radical new flavours we've invented. We want to change the way people think about ice cream'.

Eze Onyekpere: Let’s Rotate Presidential Power

Amendments and review of laws and constitutions are not done for mere atavism. They are done for the purpose of correcting mischief in existing law or to provide for subjects not already covered in the extant law and for a number of other utilitarian purposes. The understanding of law as an instrument of social engineering, to resolve social challenges and guide human intercourse finds relevance in review of existing laws. Within this context, the recently released results by the House of Representatives of the “peoples’ public sessions on constitution review” present some interesting and rather curious conclusions.
First, the people were reported to have voted down the idea of including the six geopolitical zones of the country in the constitution for administrative purposes only. By 134 votes in support and 212 against, Nigerians were reported to have rejected this suggestion. By 27 votes in support to 330 against, they were said to have voted down making geopolitical zones another tier of government. Again by 275 votes to 80, Nigerians voted down the idea of rotation of the Presidency between the Northern and Southern parts of Nigeria. Further, the constituencies by 210 to 47 reportedly voted against presidential power rotating among the six geopolitical zones. And the question of the rotation of the office of the governor among the zones in the state was also turned down.

JAMB SCRAPS PAPER EXAM BY 2015

JAMB Registrar Prof. Dibu Ojerinde
JAMB Registrar Prof. Dibu Ojerinde

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board is to scrap the Paper Pencil Test in 2015. The JAMB Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. ’Dibu Ojerinde, stated this in an interview with our correspondent on Saturday, after supervising the maiden Computer Based Testing for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
Ojerinde, who said he was happy with the outcome of the CBT, added that other forms of examination would be scrapped by 2015.
He said, “We are thinking of 2015. By 2015 registration, we will be asking candidates to go fully into Computer Based Testing but that again depends on availability of centres.
“For now, we have only 70 centres all over the country and this is not sufficient. We are encouraging as many individuals, who can participate in this project to go and build their centres then we will patronise them. But if it has to go beyond it, so be it. We are flexible we want to see how far everybody is able to cope with it.”
Ojerinde said over 227,000 results withheld for lack of Biometric Data Verification had been released to after scrutiny.
He blamed the problems on overzealous supervisors and invigilators.
He said, “We have scrutinised the results and we found out that some of the supervisors were over zealous and some investigators also misbehaved. They did not allow the children to do the biometrics and they allowed them to write examination. For those with genuine cases, we have released their results.

Jonathan To Drop Maku, 3 Others In Cabinet Reshuffle

FEC-MEETING2

Barring any unforeseen circumstance, President Goodluck Jonathan may offload four ministers from his cabinet in a reshuffle that is about to take place this month.

The four ministers – Elder Godsday Orubebe (Niger Delta/Delta), Mr. Bala Muhammad (FCT/Bauchi), Princess Stella Oduah (Aviation/Anambra) and Labaran Maku (Information/Nasarawa), are said to have indicated interest to contest the 2015 election and had obtained the tacit approval of Mr. President to proceed with the process of contesting the gubernatorial elections in their respective states.
The cabinet reshuffle, the first major one to be undertaken by President Jonathan after his inauguration in 2011, is planned to mark the second anniversary of his administration and to pave the way for those with higher political ambitions to actualise their dreams.

Why Celebrity Marriages Don’t Last – Yoruba actress Bimbo Thomas

image

What actually attracted you to acting?
I have always loved entertainment even before I went to school, but I never knew acting is the part of entertainment I was going to find myself in.
I put in for Mass Communication but unfortunately, my cut-off mark was not enough so I had to do a change of course which had to be Yoruba, History or Creative Arts. The latter sounded like something I could do and when I went through what it entails it was theatre, music and visuals.
In my first year, it was a big task because we had to dance round the school, go to the theatre and all that, but I started developing an interest before I rounded off my year one because I saw a lot of actors who were undergraduates like Femi Brainard, Sikiratu Sindodo was in my class.
That encouraged me and Sindodo really helped me because most of the time we had class project that we were going to have like a four man cast, she used to cast me and because I knew I was doing it for marks I used to put in my best. I remember one of such class projects we did was for Hamed Yerima and while I was performing on stage, I saw in the audience my lecturer, Dr Hamed Yerima, applauding my performance and I was surprised he did because he’s a critic.
Later, Sindodo started taking me around but because I did not want to be a freelance and did not want to be going around, I met with Abbey Lanre of Odunfa Caucus. I had to join Odunfa Caucus and trained there. That was how I started my career.
The exposure of cleavages and other sensitive parts of the body is very rampant in Nigerian movies now. Should we expect that in the movie you’re producing now?
It is different strokes for different folks. I am a theatre practitioner to the core; I read theatre, I know almost everything about it. I’m not going to do just anything, and that is why I took my time. If I’m doing something now, it has to be something reasonable and meaningful. The (theme of the) movie is going to be a tragedy and its going to be society-related.
Did your parents have any reservation on your choice of career?
I’m very close to my mom. When I told her that I wanted to act, what she said was that ‘you that you are shy, do you think you can make a career out of it’ and I said yes. She has been supporting me ever since. When I was still undergoing training, I would be called for waka pass roles; I would take her wrapper and buba. She will even be asking when the movies will be released.
Is it true that English movie actors discriminate against their Yoruba counterparts?
I think it’s an individual thing. In my own case, if I want to act in English movies, I will walk up to a director or if there is an audition, I will go for it. I don’t think there is any segregation or discrimination. Low self esteem is the problem with some of our Yoruba actors. Some of us feel they (the English actors) are too big. I don’t see it like that. I talk to whoever I want whenever I feel.
Are you intentionally restricting yourself to the Yoruba movies?

A NEW WAVE; TABLETOP PC

Get ready for the next revolution in ICT technology. the first glimpse of the new tabletop tablet. Many PC manufacturers have embraced the new innovation.
This new category of PC can be hard to pin down. To some, these are all-in-one desktops, similar to the Apple iMac, but with the added ability to either fold down flat or detach their screens. To others, these are battery-powered megatablets, with screens measuring between 18 and 27 inches, but are otherwise similar to Windows 8 slates such as Microsoft's Surface Pro. But, I think they're an entirely different animal, with features of a personal computer, a piece of consumer electronics equipment, and even living-room furniture.
That's why I call them tabletop PCs, and since late 2012, we've reviewed four models, from Sony, Asus, Dell, and Lenovo. The Dell and Asus models look the most all-in-one-like, with screens that detach from traditional-looking stands. The Sony and Lenovo models are giant battery-powered screens with built-in kickstands that can stand up or at an angle, or fold down flat. All of them function just fine facing straight up from a coffee table or kitchen counter, and you can expect plenty of custom built-in furniture options should this trend take off.
None of the early examples are quite ready for broad mainstream audiences yet, but of these, the 18-inch Dell XPS 18 is thin and light, and it's the easiest to carry around, while the Lenovo Horizon is the most ambitious, with a giant 27-inch display, custom software interface, and a small collection of included accessories for tabletop gaming.

Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27
It functions perfectly well as a desktop all-in-one, but to see it really shine, push the spring-loaded hinge down and lay the system flat on your table, desk, or even the floor. Aura, a touch-centric operating-system overlay, switches on automatically when you fold the system down, and a collection of several custom apps and games is available in this mode, including the requisite air hockey (seemingly the first app everyone thinks to install on a tabletop PC), Texas Hold 'Em poker, and Monopoly. Read the full review of the Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27.

Sony Vaio Tap 20
Sony's 20-inch version of the tabletop PC deserves credit for being the first out of the gate, but subsequent systems have done better on weight, features, and price. Also, it has a 1,600x900-pixel resolution screen that just isn't adequate for such a large screen. Read the full review of the Sony Vaio Tap 20.

Asus Transformer AIO
The Transformer AIO essentially gives you two computing devices. One is an Intel Core i5 CPU base unit that behaves like a standard Windows 8 all-in-one. Lift the 18.4-inch display out of its cradle and the screen switches over to its built-in Nvidia Tegra 3 chip, becoming a giant, 5.6-pound Android tablet. Read the full review of the Asus Transformer AIO.

Dell XPS 18
Thanks to its light weight and portability, the Dell XPS 18 is probably the most useful of the current crop of tabletop PCs, and it's fun for playing touch-friendly games. However, the Microsoft app store doesn't make appropriate software easy to find, and the screen's top coating had too much finger drag to really work for fast-paced air hockey/Pong-style games. Read the full review of the Dell XPS 18.

Man Loses Manhood After Giving Beggar N50

A scenario occured over the weekend at the Old Garage, Akure when a middle-aged woman was alleged to have used charm to take a man’s penis.
It was gathered that the victim, Adewale Akande, a graduate of College of Education, Oro, Kwara State gave the woman who begged him for alms, N50 but five minutes later, he discovered that he was having a feeling that his manhood had disappeared.
Apparently uncomfortable with the situation, the victim, in his mid-twenties, called a traffic officer around to help him arrest the woman whom he said begged him for alms.
When brought to the Police Area Command Station at Oyemekun Road, Akure, it was learnt that the suspect first denied having collected money from the victim. But after a thorough interrogation by the Police, she confessed that she received the money from Adewale.
Meanwhile, there was tension around the police station as Wale’s family members insisted that the case be transferred to the Deji’s Palace for traditional solution.
After six hours of apprehension, the victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital where he regained his manhood.
Narrating his ordeal to us, Akande said he came to Akure on Tuesday with his brother, Ademola, to inform their relatives about Ademola’s marriage.
The incident, he said, happened when he was about boarding a commercial vehicle to Ilorin from Old Garage; leaving his brother, behind as he promised to leave Akure the following day, Friday.
Akande said the beggar had begged him for alms, after which he gave her N50 only to notice after five minutes that his manhood was ‘shrinking’.
He said all efforts to get help from passengers in the car proved abortive, as they mistook him for ’419′ (fraudster). The graduate said he immediately called his brother on phone before approaching traffic wardens for help.
He said, “I just saw the woman on the road. She was begging me that I should give her N50. I gave her and in the next five minutes, I saw that my body was weak and my penis became very tiny like broom”.
Ademola, his brother, confirmed the incident, saying Wale called him immediately after the incident occurred. He expressed surprise at the mysterious disappearance of his brother’s manhood, adding that but for God’s intervention, it would have been a different story.
On her part, an aunty to the victim whom the brothers had visited, Prophetess Florence Adeojo of C&S, Imole-Ayo Parish, Oke-Ijebu, Akure advised members of the public who want to give alms to give them directly to churches and not to every beggar they see on their way.
When we visited the Area Commander’s office yesterday, it was discovered that the woman was still under detention, just as none of the officers were willing to speak to press on the matter.
The Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], Mr. Wole Ogodo who confirmed that the case was taken to the Police Area Command, said the police was not really sure if the victim truly lost his manhood.
According to him, “the boy and the beggar who is an able body woman were taken to the Station and during the interrogation, the Area Commander asked if the boy has a girlfriend or someone who could help him test if he had really lost his manhood, but Adewale claimed that his girlfriend was very far from Akure and no one around could help him make the test if his manhood was still functioning.
“The Area Commander also asked from the victim the last time he had eaten, but Adewale said for the past seven days he had been fasting.
The Police boss immediately directed the boy to go to the hospital for proper medical attention, believing that the victim might be suffering from psychological problem since he had not eaten for the past seven days.
“Later on, the man returned from the hospital and confirmed that his manhood was now functioning properly.
However, the woman has been warned by Police not to stay around that area again or any place to solicit for money, rather, she should look for better things to do in order to keep her soul and body together” the PPRO had confirmed.

4 dead to get holy water

Four persons have been confirmed dead at the Spintex Road branch of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) founded by Prophet T.B. Joshua.
The tragic incident occurred after a stampede ensued at the church Sunday during the distribution of free holy water. The man of God, Prophet TB Joshua had earlier given the announcement on their station, Emmanuel TV, that there was going to be a distribution of anointed water at the service. The holy water, to many TB Joshua followers is acclaimed to be the panacea to the many spiritual afflictions.
Hundreds were said to have started arriving at the church premises from 8pm last night and before the service could start this morning, the stampede occurred because of the overflow. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the 37 and Police Hospital mortuaries. Earlier in the morning, a flotilla of cars on the Spintex road and its enclave, en route for an anointing water service by Nigeria’s Prophet T. B. Joshua in Accra, resulted in another impenetrable gridlock which caused frustration to commuters and Residents in that area.
Hundreds of cars belonging to Nigerians in Ghana as well as Ghanaians, were parked on the sides of the road in a mesh of chaos, which spewed onto the roads, thus resulting in a go slow.
Three weeks ago, a similar situation left the Spintex road in another lock down as hundreds of people thronged the church to meet Prophet TB Joshua The Church is yet to formally issue a statement on the incident.

JEALOUS LOVER DISFIGURE SPOUSE

(The picture may be disturbing to some of our viewers)
Sometimes I wonder if people actually understand the meaning of love. Nothing, absolutely nothing justifies any body doing this to another person , especially if you claim you love(d) this person. I don’t care if you caught her red handed ‘humping’ with another man ( which wasn’t the case here, but we all know is the biggest form of provocation for any man), there is no justification for acting this way.
Read the full story and see the horrible picture of this woman after the incidence.
Warning!!! The picture is horrible, so PLEASE  do not go further if you can not stand such things.

THIRTY-EIGHT year-old Ms. Paulina Oghenemere, an indigene of Kokori in Ethiope –East Local Government Area of Delta State, fasted and prayed  on  August 27, 2010, to cast away the demon tormenting her life. Yet, it was the devil in her green-eyed  lover, a father of four, simply identified as Mr. Difference,  that knocked on her door at 5 a.m. the next day,  and since that ill-fated Thursday when he poured a substance, believed to be concentrated hydrochloric acid, on  her face, Paulina’s life has never remained the same.
From what Sunday Vanguard saw of Paulina, the beautiful woman  who men found irresistible  was a shadow of her  former  self after she was discharged from University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, Benin City, two months ago. She spent  a year in the acid victims’ ward. When Sunday Vanguard visited her home, she fumbled about her sitting room, unable to see, but eager to welcome the team. What  came to mind was man’s inhumanity to man.
Today, Paulina, a divorcee and mother of two, needs a lifeline of  N10 million to restore her dignity.
‘How I met my ex-lover’
Heart-broken Paulina tells her story, “I divorced my husband with whom I had two kids after irreconcilable differences and incompatibility and relocated to Ujevwu  in Udu Local Government Area of Delta  State. There, I  began selling meat at the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company, WRPC, area, a business which sustained and provided for my needs as the kids are with their father.

My Marriage Crashed Because Of What I Found In My Wife’s Wardrobe”

35-36-37-38-SportStyle-May-19-2013-Samsom-660x330

THEY cut the image of two love birds who would live and be happy forever; but the once vibrant love between Super Eagles’ erstwhile midfielder, Yusuf Ayila, and Aishat Gbemisola is heading for the rocks amidst claims and counterclaims between the hitherto well known Romeo and Juliet of Aguda, Surulere in Lagos!
Last week, both serious newspapers and local tabloids were loaded with the stories of how Ayila allegedly abandoned Gbemisola and their two children in the cold weather region of Ukraine. He has also purportedly married another wife with whom he now resides in Turkey where he is on loan to Orduspor from Dynamo Kiev.
But it seems the last may not have been heard on the face-off between Ayila and his estranged wife, Gbemisola, following the latest disclosure by a close confidant of the Super Eagles’ star at the 2010 World Cup that Gbemisola was ostensibly shown the red card for engaging in some diabolical act.
“Ayila didn’t neglect his family: the truth is that the so-called wife, Gbemisola, wants to kill and inherit his properties,” squealed Ola Muhammed, a confidant and publicist for the former Super Eagles’ star. “Whatever I’m telling you is as good as hearing it from the horse’s mouth because I have the mandate of Yusuf to let the public know the true story. Gbemisola just wanted to curry the sympathy of the public with her spurious claims of being abandoned with the kids.”

PREVENTING BREAST CANCER

Angelina Jolie, in her op-ed column in The New York Times, disclosed that she had a prophylactic double mastectomy. Jolie is the carrier of the BRCA1 gene, which substantially increases a woman’s risk of breast and ovarian cancer. She lost her mother to breast cancer, and didn't want to subject her children to the same experience. She hits a nerve when she says that cancer is a word that strikes fear into people’s hearts, producing a deep sense of powerlessness.

Jolie, because she's positive for the BRCA1 gene and has a significant positive family history for breast cancer, chose to mitigate her high risk of developing breast cancer by having a preventative double mastectomy. Though always a complex decision medically and emotionally, she's past her childbearing and breastfeeding years, and the quality of life given by peace of mind that you’ll more than likely be there for your kids is an argument winner for many women over keeping their breasts.

So how do the rest of us prevent breast cancer? Clearly a double mastectomy is not indicated for all of us with breasts — it's major surgery with attendant risks and most of us will never develop breast cancer and do not carry the BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes that increase breast cancer risk.

This 8-Step Breast Cancer Prevention Action Plan is health promoting in general, reducing your risk of diabetes, heart disease, and colon cancer as well. These practices are your daily health affirmation so that breast cancer prevention is just a natural part of a healthy way of life!

1. Eat only high-quality, natural foods, and include olive oil and dark leafy greens every day.

Processed, fast food and nutrient-deficient diets have co-arisen with breast cancer rates. Is there a correlation? Probably. Is there any harm in eating a healthy diet? Nope. And we do know that diets rich in a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and good-quality fats, particularly olive oil, can help to reduce damage to your genes and protect against breast cancer.

A number of large studies have looked at the role of fats in the diet. Though the Nurses’ Health Study did not demonstrate an increased risk of breast cancer in women consuming animal fat, polyunsaturated fat, or saturated fat, and even suggested an increased risk of breast cancer from high intake of fish oil in the diet, many other large studies have shown a breast cancer protective effect from olive oil and fish oil. The Journal of the National Cancer Institute (1995) demonstrated a 25% lower risk of breast cancer in Greek women who consumed olive oil regularly. Two other European studies also suggested a protective effect of olive oil. One of these studies also showed an increased risk of breast cancer in women who consumed saturated fat. A three-year survey of 61,471 Swedish women reported a 45% reduction in breast cancer risk among women who regularly use canola oil and olive oil. I recommend two tablespoons of olive oil daily.

2. Don’t drink alcohol — or at least drink less.

While a few glasses of red wine per week may have cardio protective actions, we do know that more than seven glasses of alcohol per week modestly increases a woman’s risk of breast cancer, and more recent research suggests that even just a few glasses may do so. Therefore, I encourage women to avoid alcohol except on rare occasions, certainly keep it to no more than two four-ounce glasses of wine per week. I get it, not drinking may be less than fun; breast cancer is even less fun. The studies are clear: the more you drink, the higher your risk of breast cancer, with two drinks per day increasing risk by as much as 70%.

Want to be love by anyone or everyone?

How to make anyone(everyone) love you

There are some people who just have it. You know, that thing...
They illuminate a room. Eyes follow them. The spotlight naturally and effortlessly is drawn to them.
What's their secret? I know, and I'm going to tell you.
It's called soul.
People who embody soul are irresistible. Seriously irresistible. Like, I-can't-take-my-eyes-off-you irresistible. Uh huh, it's that good.
Soulful individuals are always being pursued. People flock to them. They look good, they feel good; they've got that thing.

Here are four easy steps to embody your soul and light up a room. Get ready to turn some heads.

1. Center.
The quality of being centered is strong and peaceful; assured and graceful; aligned and free.
It feels heavenly to be around centered people because these qualities are so desirable to us. They also aren't the norm.
We live in a fast-paced, frazzled world, so being a pillar of peace is an oasis in a very dry desert. If you flow with grace and ease, no doubt people will be drawn to flow with you.
So how do you do it?
Easy. You practice.
Whether it's meditation (focus on your breath), mindfulness (focus on the now), or just paying attention to what is happening in the present moment, these practices will lead you to embody a sense of calm and ease.
People will take note. It's a slight shift with a big impact. Train yourself to be here now and watch how others respond to your aura of grace.

2. Be grateful.
The reason gratitude is paramount in attracting others is because it aligns you with a state of abundance. Abundance overflows – it wants to share. When you're overflowing with good vibes, others will flock by your side.
Think about it. How does it feel to be around people who are grateful; people who are happy, free-spirited, and gracious? Pretty nice, right?
Gratitude overflows. It's light, joyful, and yummy. When you feel grateful, you become one with this delectable energy; it's an absolute people magnet!
Embody your soul by getting your gratitude on. Relish all the beautiful things you encounter during your day, feel it before you go to sleep, and be thankful whenever possible. This practice will greatly increase your personal magnetism, guaranteed.

5 Foods That Make Your Skin Glow

Let's go green and make that skin glow.
Who doesn’t want a glowing, radiant complexion?

While most people think gorgeous skin is the result of a special skin care routine, the truth is our dietary habits can have even more of an effect.

Skin, after all, is an organ, and our body uses it to release toxins.

Processed foods can zap its luster, while the antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals in fresh produce can illuminate our skin from within.
Body creme, lotion, oil cannot do the work. They are all chemical. But green works from within to the outer body.

Here are 5 foods that can help boost the clarity and radiance of your skin:

Pumpkin Seeds
Another seed with a powerful skin-beautifying effect, pumpkin seeds get their power from both the beauty mineral, zinc, and essential fatty acids including omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9. Like hemp seeds, they help reduce inflammation in the body. Try them sprinkled on salads, in smoothies, or simply by the handful.

Hemp Seeds
These tiny little seeds are composed of a massive amount of protein, including the sulfur-bearing amino acids: methionine, cysteine, and cystine, which are used to build strong hair, nails, muscle, and skin.

They also have the ideal ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids (1:3), and even include omega 9, which are all strong antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is the cause of many of our skin woes, including blemishes and wrinkles, so adding hemp seeds to your diet can help reduce or prevent those skin issues.

Enjoy them on their own, sprinkled in salads, or blended in smoothies.

Avocados Pear
This creamy fruit delivers a healthy dose of vitamins on its own. Even better: when you pair avocado with a carotenoid-rich food, such as tomatoes, carrots, or bell peppers, it can help you absorb up to five times more of the antioxidants lycopene and beta carotene.

Radishes
Raw food advocate David Wolfe claims these are one of the most beautifying of all foods. Radishes contain a number of minerals and compounds that benefit the skin. They are high in sulfur, silicon, and Vitamin C, which work together to create glowing skin by boosting collagen, strengthening skin, and stimulating the circulatory system

Slice radishes into salads, or have as a snack on their own or with a dip.

Arugula
This dark, leafy green is an excellent source of two of the keys to gorgeous skin: Vitamin A and sulfur. The chlorophyll in arugula is a potent detoxifier, too.

Try a raw arugula salad topped with the rest of the foods on this list for a delicious dish that will get your skin glowing.

LET'S GO GREEN

16 way to detox the body system everyday

We’re all human. We partake in the occasional (or more frequent) indulgences life has to offer. Even as a practicing health-fanatic-vegetarian-yogi, I can’t imagine my life without my favorite glass(es) of red wine and dessert! Daily detox measures help counteract the less healthy items we put in our body, as well as the environmental factors for which we have little control.

Instead of relying on intense, short-lived detoxes, begin incorporating these steps to detox your body EVERY SINGLE DAY of your life.

Appendix Male genitals Female genitals Pancreas Gallbladder Stomach Liver Voice box
1. Detox bath.

I have a magical detox bath formula resulting from many years of research and testing. And, yes, I’m sharing it with you! Take one every week to cleanse from the outside in.
  • Dead sea salts / Epsom salts (2 cups): draw toxins out through the skin
  • Baking Soda (2 cups): naturally alkalizing substance helps remove toxins
  • Fresh ground ginger (1 tbsp): heats-up body temperature, encouraging perspiration
  • Therapeutic-grade essential oils (4 drops each): Geranium, eucalyptus and juniper berry possess powerful agents aiding in detoxification.
2. Get massages.

This deserves two exclamation points. Massages increase circulation, stimulate the lymphatic system and remove toxic build-up. They also feel pretty good.

3. Make your home healthy.
Introduce plants to your home (peace lilies, ferns and palms are great natural air filters), change A/C filters regularly, avoid harsh household chemicals, install chlorine filters, introduce an air purifier, and consider a reverse-osmosis water system.
4. Drink hot lemon water.

Kick-start the detoxing process first thing in the morning by drinking a cup of warm water with lemon and cayenne.

5. Have a fresh cold-pressed juice

Do it on an empty stomach, which allows your body to absorb the nutrients more quickly. My go-to detox elixir: lemon, kale, spinach, spirulina, and ginger – the more greens, the better!

6. Sip a detox tea.

Sip a few cups of detoxifying tea blends throughout the day. Look for ingredients such as dandelion root, ginger, burdock and licorice root.

7. Add apple cider vinegar.

Along with a host of other benefits, apple cider vinegar alkalizes the body and helps detox the liver. Buy the raw, unfiltered and organic variety.

8. Eat detoxing foods and supplements.

The liver and kidneys serve as the body’s filtration system, and thus are integral to overall health and cleansing. Incorporate the following to aid in continual kidney and liver cleansing: parsley, cilantro, dandelion root, licorice root, cayenne, turmeric, red pepper, garlic, lemon, lime, grapefruit, sea vegetables (seaweed salad, nori, dulse), artichokes, beets, cruciferous vegetables, wheatgrass, spirulina, chlorella and milk thistle.

9. Eat clean.

Incorporate fiber into your diet to keep the elimination process flowing. Limit or avoid high-mercury fish such as swordfish, tuna, mackerel, shark, marlin and grouper. General rule to follow: larger fish typically have higher levels of mercury. Avoid refined sugars, processed foods, alcohol, caffeine and non-organic fruits and veggies.
10. Sweat.

Sweating is crucial for expelling toxins. Use an infrared sauna, which assists in removing heavy metal toxins stored in fat tissues. Take a Bikram yoga class — or any yoga class! Exercise with extra layers to help increase body temperature and perspiration.

11. Invert.

Scientifically shown to help the cardiovascular, lymphatic, endocrine and nervous systems, inversions reverse the flow of gravity, stimulate the lymphatic system, and aid in blood purification. Traditional inversions include:
  • Shoulder stand
  • Headstand or handstand
  • Legs propped up against a wall
12. Jump.

Rebounding is great for stimulating the lymphatic system and increasing circulation. Small, portable trampolines are a quick and easy way to build jumping into your daily routine.

13. Eliminate.

Elimination seemed appropriate for the “Move” category! Further cleanse your colon by taking daily fiber supplements, probiotics, digestive enzymes, and incorporating colon cleanses such as colonics or enemas.

14. Dry body brush.

Before showering, dry brush your body head-to-toe, using long strides toward the heart. This activates the lymphatic system, stimulates blood circulation, and enhances toxin elimination through our body’s largest organ — the skin!

15. Tongue scrape.

Yes, it sounds funny, but this quickly cleans the tongue of accumulated bacteria and toxic debris from the night before. Think of it as giving your body an extra assist in the detox process, while also achieving better breath! I promise you’ll be hooked.

16. Try hydrotherapy.

Hydrotherapy encompasses a large range of approaches and methods. An easy way to incorporate hydrotherapy daily is by alternating between hot and cold water every 30 seconds in the shower. Cold water stimulates, causing blood vessels to constrict, while hot water relaxes and causes blood vessels to dilate. This alternation of hot and cold water improves elimination, decreases inflammation, removes wastes from tissues, and stimulates circulation.
Introduce plants to your home (peace lilies, ferns and palms are great natural air filters), change A/C filters regularly, avoid harsh household chemicals, install chlorine filters, introduce an air purifier, and consider a reverse-osmosis water system.

7 All-Natural Tips For Rebooting Your Sex Drive

Are you wondering whether your sex drive is low? And whether there’s anything you can do about that? Well, sister, you’re not alone…

Literally millions of women of all ages struggle with concerns and questions about their libido. As a Functional Medicine physician specializing in Women’s Health, my job is to help you get to the root of the problem – and find solutions

If you used to be much more interested in sex, have noticed a decline in your desire, and want to feel that spark and desire again, there are solutions!

1. Work with an integrative physician, nurse practitioner, or naturopath who can help you sort out whether you have underlying medical, nutritional, and lifestyle imbalances that might be dampening your desire. Your care provider can also help you with treatments for vaginal dryness, pelvic or vaginal pain, and other physical obstacles to enjoying your sex life!

2. Tend to stress with relaxation techniques, improved sleep, and necessary lifestyle changes.

3. Deal with the side effects of medications. Cease and desist alcohol overconsumption (an occasional glass of red wine, however, can stimulate desire).

4. Do at least two things every day to make yourself feel sexy, a surefire way to fan your flame! This can be wearing slinky underwear (even if only you know about it), wearing red, treating yourself to a delicious sensual bath or… you name it!

5. Get into individual and/or relationship counseling, or work with a sex therapist. The Association of Sex Therapists, Educators, and Counselors is a respected organization. Their website will help you find a therapist in your community.

6. Use foods, herbs, and supplements that safely enhance libido. Many of these work by supporting your nervous system or regulating your hormones. Foods rich in zinc, including oysters, pumpkin seeds, toasted wheat germ, and dark chocolate boost libido, as do maca, ginseng, shatavari, ginkgo, and oatstraw. All of these may be taken alone or in combination, or as liquid extracts, capsules, or pills.

7. Yoga poses can help stimulate your libido and enhance pelvic health. Exercise in general can invigorate your sexual energy.
Before I even think about prescribing hormones, I really want to get to the heart of the matter with a woman. Actually, there is no definition of what constitutes “normal” libido, or how often you “should be” wanting to have sex. It’s up to YOU to decide what’s normal for YOU. And there’s no connection between having a low sex drive – that is, not thinking and fantasizing about sex on a regular basis — and enjoying sex when you do have it. So if your level of sex drive isn’t bothering you, and it’s not getting in the way of your partner’s satisfaction in the relationship or enjoying sex, you may not have a problem at all!

You see, a very savvy and profitable medical industry has sprung up around convincing women that our libido is low, then offering us the very drugs that will fix our problems! This idea is unwittingly reinforced by the oversexualization of women in the media at nearly every turn. So a lot of us think we have a problem that we really don’t have. You can read more about this in the fabulous book Sex, Lies, and Pharmaceuticals by Ray Moynihan.

Hormonal therapies such as testosterone and estrogen can be considered, but these treatments can have side effects and are usually reserved for when a little extra help is needed.

A healthy sex life is an important part of overall health. But remember, there is no external measure of what counts as a healthy sex drive. What counts is what is healthy and satisfying to YOU.
