Warning against consumption of catfish pepper soup

A Professor of biotechnology at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Sylvia Uzochukwu, has warned Nigerians against unrestrained consumption of catfish pepper soup.
Uzochukwu, who said this while delivering the 41st inaugural lecture of the institution, said that there were a lot of health dangers inherent in the unrestrained consumption of catfish.
This, she said, was because catfish lacks the much-needed omega3 oil that she claimed, was good for health.
Rather than eat catfish, she urged Nigerians to eat sardine, which, according to her, contained high concentration of omega 3 oil.
In the lecture titled “Biotechnology Capacity Building: The Gateway to Food Security,” Uzochukwu also canvassed for improved food security through biotechnology, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
The two zones, she said, accounted for almost 90 per cent of the undernourished peoples of the world.
She also lamented Africa’s failure to join the green revolution, as well as the new gene revolution. This, she said, could be done by investing more on agricultural research and innovation.
Uzochukwu noted that at present, 29 countries in the world have adopted the use of genetically modified crops, adding that this is acceptable because it offer higher yields, less chemicals and labour input, soil conservation and more nutritious food, resulting in increased wealth, cheaper food, cleaner and safer environment and a healthier population.

Meet The Woman With The Largest Butt Implants In The World - Vanity Wonder

Meet The Woman With The Largest Butt Implants In The World
Vanity Wonder, author of book “Shots Girls” who herself spent over $15,000 on illegal butt and hip injections,  opened up about her addiction to butt injections.

Vanity, who nearly died after contracting an infection from a shot.
Vanity became an internet sensation when she posted pics of her developing booty and all the hardships she faced.  She revealed, ‘When I heard about bútt injections I thought it sounded stupid but after a year in that environment as a dancer, everyone was doing it, it wasn’t such a foreign concept. I thought I might as well try it.

’Then it became a competition – not for men but against other women. So many of us were doing it because we wanted to better than the other person.’ ‘It did become addictive but it got infected so I was left with lumps. So I had a choice, I could have a medium-sized lumpy bútt or keep padding it with silicone to make it better. So it wasn’t my goal to get this big but padding it with silicone is how this happened.’

Vanity says she’s speaking out because she doesn’t want other women to get caught in the trap.  She claims it’s ok to get butt implants, but ladies should stay away from bútt injections.  She added,

‘Truthfully I would like smaller bútt but I’m happy I didn’t die and still here for my children. I did so much dumb stuff with my body I’m lucky that I’m still living. When I look in the mirror, I think I would like a smaller bútt, it’s hard to go shopping, but I’m just happy I’m still here.’

Lady Gaga Looks Lovely As A Bridesmaid For Friend’s Wedding

Lady gaga dressed for a brides maid??? wonder shall never end/

Even though Lady Gaga is used to having all eyes on her and her eccentric outfits, she took a step back from the limelight and left her crazy get-ups at home when she served as a bridesmaid for her best friend’s wedding!

Lady Gaga, 27, isn’t the type to blend in. However, the ‘Mother Monster’ ditched her eccentric style for her best friend’s wedding in Cabo San Lucas on June 8 — we almost didn’t recognize her!

Lady Gaga’s Bridesmaid Dress:

The “Born This Way” singer flaunted her 30-pound weight loss in a pink champagne halter with a deep v-cut by twobirds. Gaga wore the same fabric as her four fellow bridesmaids, however each dress was styled to tailor to each woman’s body type. She finished the chic look with an oversized flower in her hair — it was so soft and pretty!
The songstress also ditched her heavy entourage to help best friend and bride, Bo, fix her veil before she walked down the aisle. However, old habits die hard — Gaga did sport some fake lashes and a flashy manicure with this season’s ‘pointy’ nail trend, while also wearing a long blonde wig. Even though she was all done up we totally approve of this look — it was much more natural than we’re used to seeing on the star!
Simple, elegant, chic … YES we’re talking about Lady Gaga. The understated look is very uncharacteristic of the New York native, but we think she’s never looked better!
What do YOU think? Do you want to see more of Gaga’s toned down appearance? VOTE!

The Untold Story of KC (KC Presh) and Ebube Nwagbo

The Untold Story of KC (KC Presh) and Ebube Nwagbo
Reports from a Nigerian Gossip site, reveal the unspoken story between Kingsley Okonkwo of KC Presh duo and actress Ebube Nwagbo. According to the report; Kingsley is still having it good with his former fiancée, Ebube Nwagbo, and is reported to have been responsible for all the posh cars Ebube has been brandishing for some time now. From the Hummer 3 to her latest fleet, Porsche Panamera which is rated at 18 million naira or there about.
Aside stating it in a recent interview that his wife and kids are past tense in his life, the Limpopo crooner also said that till date, he doesn’t know their whereabouts. Meanwhile, our private investigations revealed that the marriage crashed a few months ago and that while KC was still married he was simultaneously enjoying a private romance with Ebube Nwagbo, a reason many believe contributed immensely to why his marriage crashed. Although, this might not be a surprise to many, as they have been spotted on several occasions in compromising positions. Unlike his younger brother, Emeka Okonkwo, aka E-Money, KC stopped stepping out to events with his wife for over a year ago, but prefers the company of Ebube whom many suggest may move in with him soon. For the benefit of doubts, in 2012 when KC performed for the first time his hit single Okpekete at AY show, hours after, he was seen together with Ebube Nwagbo and some of her friends at the after party of the event which held at Austin Jay Jay Okocha’s now rested Club 10, situated at Saka Tinubu, where they partied hard till early in the morning when they both left in different cars. KC who was travelling outside the country that morning headed to the airport his black 4Matic 500 car, while Ebube alongside two of her friends followed in a gold colour Honda End of Discussion. Another major event they both attended was Encomium Black and White ball which held in Lekki this year. Where KC staged a fantastic performance. They were both seen around each other all through the event. Informed sources said they spent that night together in an unknown hotel on the Island.
Speaking exclusively to our reporter in Lagos, a source in Kc’s camp who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that his wife, Ijeoma was aware of his romantic feelings for Ebube which was very conspicuous and kept warning him of the possible danger it could pose on their marriage, but he didn’t listen.
As things stand, KC has already started denying that he was once married. In another recent interview he granted a reporter in Lagos last weekend, the crooner said, “I have never married before, the person that got married was my brother but people thought I was the one”.
Well, just in case you don’t know, KC proposed to his wife, Ijeoma Okonkwo (nee Oduah) in a hot air balloon in Dubai in 2010. They came back and had their traditional wedding in Anambra where he hails from, and a court wedding followed at Apapa Registry witnessed by his younger brother, Emeka, his wife and KC’s former label mate Presh. Shortly after they had their white wedding. The union was allegedly blessed with two kids, a boy and a girl which they had in quick successions.
With the union now gone awry, KC has joined the league of entertainers with failed marriages. Meanwhile, a text message sent to KC’s phone on Sunday, June 9, 2012 was not replied as at the time of publishing this report. But we shall definitely bring you update on this subject, don’t go away.

White man who robbed six banks disguised as a black man faces 35 years in prison

Blacks have been tagged Dangerous and Beware all over the world. And this has really put a stigma on the black race. Now the white is getting a whip for playing a bad stunt on the black.
White man who robbed six banks disguised as a black man faces 35 years in prison

A white man who carried out six brazen bank robberies wearing a silicone mask designed to resemble a black man, faces up to 35 years in prison when he is sentenced on January 7, 2011.
On Monday, Conrad Zdzierak, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated robbery and five counts of robbery in exchange for dismissal of 12 charges. The mask was so lifelike that police initially arrested a black man for the crimes.

‘Conrad apologises to everyone, is sorry for any harm he has caused and accepts responsibility for his actions,’ his lawyer Christopher McDowell said.
Zdzierak stole about $15,000 in the robberies of four banks, a credit union and a pharmacy that occurred in March and April – crimes in which witnesses reported that the robber was black and surveillance video appeared to show a black man.
Zdzierak’s masked resemblance to the black man who was initially arrested was so similar that some witnesses even identified a photo of the black man as the one who robbed them, McDowell said.
The prosecutor’s office would not release the name of the wrongly accused man.
Zdzierak was arrested at a hotel after his girlfriend called police after seeing reports of the robberies and finding two masks and money stained by dye that is used to track robbers, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The Best All-Natural Insect Repellents

If you’re an MBG regular, then you’re probably looking for ways to keep the chemicals out of your home and, more importantly, off and out of your body. Summer can be a hard time to balance the natural to chemical ratio between lots of exposed skin, the necessity of some kind of sun protection, and protection against all kinds of biting pests.
But! As usual, herbs are there to protect, defend, nourish and soothe the skin. Avoiding DEET, a common ingredient in most conventional bug sprays (or diethyl-meta-toluamide) is important; up to 15% of DEET can be absorbed into the bloodstream, according to some studies. Yikes, right? Even the FDA advises caution and using DEET sparingly.
Note: if you’re heading into a situation where malaria is a possibility, go with the DEET; its risks are a worthwhile compromise in light of the infectious disease.
On to the herbs:
1. Neem (Azadirachta indica):
Neem is a traditional Ayurvedic herb, popular in its native country of India. With its pesticide and germicide properties, it makes a very effective insect repellent. Mix ten (or so) drops of neem essential oil with a quarter cup coconut oil. Spread this on any exposed skin. Some African and Indian studies show that neem is effective against mosquitoes for up to 12 hours. Avoid neem oil if your skin is cut, broken, or abraded.
2. Eucalyptus oil (Eucalyptus globulus):
If you dislike the scent of citronella (which, admittedly, I do), eucalyptus is a good substitute. You can use the essential oil in an aromatherapy burner to keep mosquitoes away from your backyard festivities, or mix five or six drops with one quarter cup coconut oil and use topically. Note: eucalyptus essential oil, even in a carrier oil, can sting sensitive skin, so test a small patch before you apply it to the rest of your body.
Note: never take eucalyptus oil internally.
3. Catnip (Nepeta cataria):
Catnip is strong protection against biting insects and easily made a part of your daily herb protocol. The human body gives off a myriad of scents seemingly designed to attract mosquitoes and their ilk, but the scent your body exudes after ingesting catnip can discourage insects from finding you so irresistible.
To make catnip tea, brew (at least) two teaspoons per cup of hot (not quite boiling) water and steep for ten minutes. You can also take a couple of catnip capsules a few hours before venturing outside. Catnip is absolutely safe for children and breastfeeding women, but should be avoided while pregnant.
4. Basil (Ocimum basilicum), Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), Lavender (Lavandula spp), and Peppermint (Mentha piperita):
Fennel, lavender and peppermint are all strong repellents (lavender is especially good if ticks are a worry), but only last 60-90 minutes on their own. When combined with basil oil, however, you’re looking at about eight hours of protection (though I’d reapply well before then).
You don’t have to use all of these oils, unless you like the resulting scent. For my skin, peppermint is too strong, so I opt for five drops basil essential oil, and then two drops of any (or all) of the other oils mixed with a quarter cup coconut oil.
Note: peppermint essential oil is an insect and pest repellent in the home. Sprinkle the oil on cotton balls and stuff them in doorways and windowsills to discourage mice, spiders, mosquitoes, and even squirrels (if, for example, they tend to eat through your screens and steal sweet potatoes from your kitchen; I may be speaking from experience here). Refresh every few days.

Bonus:
For pets:
If you’re looking for herbal flea solutions, you can try the following flea spray: mix equal parts apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar) with water. Add seven drops lavender essential oil, five drops rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) essential oil, and three drops eucalyptus essential oil per cup of liquid. Shake well and spray and massage into your pet’s coat. Again—make sure you test a small area first to make sure there’s no irritation.
Alternatively, you can make a flea powder (also good for applying to carpets in a flea infested house) by mixing equal parts cornstarch and baking soda with two tablespoons powdered lavender (or seven drops essential oil) and one tablespoon powdered rosemary (or five drops essential oil) per cup of powder.

Bite and Sting Relief:
If you’re out and about and get a bite or sting, plantain (Plantago major) will immediately relieve the pain and itching. Plantain grows everywhere; in fact, I’ll bet it’s growing in your yard right now, just waiting for you to go pick it (after you Google image it, of course, so you know you’re harvesting the right plant).
Dust off your plantain leaf (being sure that no pesticides or chemical fertilizers have been applied), chew it up and place on the sting. I know, I know … chew? Well, the enzymes in your saliva help to break down the plant membranes, releasing the pain-relieving, inflammation-reducing constituents.
Not really keen on harvesting your own? No worries. You can find plantain oil or dried plantain leaf in the herbal marketplace. Apply the oil to the bite or mix the dried leaves with a bit of warm water to form a poultice.
Don’t have plantain on hand? Well, if you’re a MBG regular, you probably have some apple cider vinegar (ACV) on hand. Apply this straight (or watered down) to a cotton ball and hold on the bite or sting until the discomfort stops. Refresh and reapply as often as needed.
Be well, herb it up, and enjoy summer — bite and sting free.
