Cpl.
Paul Anigbo, on the side of the prosecution, told the court that the
matter was reported at the Lugbe Police Station by one Faith Njoku of
Kapuwa Village, Lugbe, Abuja on September 2.
The
prosecutor told the court that Nancy Ndukwe visited her friend Njoku on
the above-mentioned date and stole her IPad, IPhone and jewellery, all
valued at N190,000.
Cpl.
Anigbo gave the value of each of the items as reported by the
complainant: IPad – N100,000; IPhone – N50,000 and jewellery – N40,000.
The prosecutor informed that the police discovered all the stolen items in the convict’s possession.
Cpl. Anigbo stated that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge but begged the court for mercy.
“I
stole the items due to frustration. I have a one-year-old son to cater
for. I am sorry and I promise not to do such again,” Nancy Ndukwe said.
Mr. Celestine Odo, the Magistrate, sentenced the convict for two months imprisonment or an option of N6,000 fine.
