When Apple introduces new iPhones on Tuesday, as everyone expects them to do, the company that practically created the smartphone will face an unusual task: keeping up with the competition.

"The smartphone market is more competitive overall, and in the high-end it has become a duopoly between Samsung and Apple," said Carolina Milanesi, a consumer-technology researcher with Gartner Research. "Many feel that Apple needs to regain the distance they once had over their competitors."

Tension in Borno as govt moves to demolish churches, schools

ABUJA—There is tension in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as the state government has intensified efforts to demolish about 25 churches and schools, Vanguard has learnt.
The proposed demolition, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, told Vanguard might heighten insecurity challenges created by the Boko Haram.
The development has, therefore, continued to fuel speculations to Islamize the country, beginning from Northern Nigeria.
Vanguard reliably gathered that “the state government will embark on the demolition any moment from now.”
Although there are conflicting figures of the number of churches and schools to be affected, sources confirmed that it would be close to 25.

8year old bride dies from injuries after wedding night sex with 40yr old hubby

An eight year old bride in Yemen died from internal injuries on her wedding night, bleeding to death after deep vaginal tearing caused by sex with her 40 year old husband.
The girl, identified only by the name Rawan, died in Hardh in the governorate of Hajjah in northwestern Yemen, according to a report issued by UPI on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Activists in the region want to put an end to the practice of marrying young girls, and have called for police to arrest the girl's husband and family. Nevertheless, the forced marriage of child brides in Yemen remains a socially accepted custom in many rural areas.

Yemeni activists urged the local police to arrest the “beastly groom” and the girl’s family and transfer them to a court where justice would be served and the case would be used to help put an end to the practice of marrying very young girls in the impoverished country, the daily said.
In Kuwait, bloggers offered their prayers for the “bride”, but lashed out at the “groom”, saying that he was a beast who should be severely punished

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu Rejects Femi Fani-Kayode's Apologies!

Controversial former Nigerian minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kanyode, has threatened to reveal details of his past private relationship with Nigeria's ambassador to Spain, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu after the ambassador rejected his apologies in several newspaper withdrawing earlier claims they had a romantic past.

Mrs. Ojukwu through her lawyers had ordered the minister to withdraw claims made in article that he had intimate relations with her several years ago. Shortly after receiving the lagal threats, Fani-Kayode went on to issue an apology, asking to remove the word "intimate" from the claims made relating to Bianca and two other ladies.

However, Mrs. Ojukwu rejected the apologies claiming they were not sufficient, she thereafter threatened to institute a lawsuit to seek redress.

The latest legal threat might have prompted Fani-Kayode to issue a statement today daring Mrs. Ojukwu to put the matter before the courts.

The trend amongst Nigerian celebrities these days is; taking vacation to foreign countries with their family members, posting the pictures on their Instagram, Facebook and every other social media platforms readily available to them.
Like the saying goes, ‘all work and no play just don’t pay’, these people work so hard and deserve vacations to rest their nerves. But in as much as they need these vacations, must it be in foreign countries?
What happens to Nigeria’s resort centres? Why do these celebrities, who have got the where withal to patronise it, desert it for foreign ones?
Mercy Johnson recently released some pictures of her and the family on vacation in Dubai, not a bad idea though, but one thing they need to know is that Dubai wouldn’t have been that wonderful if the citizens with the wherewithal didn’t support the country and its tourism up to the level it attracts tourists from all over the world.
There are uncountable resort centres with state of the art facilities in Nigeria which can match that of other foreign countries in the world. There’s the Ogudu Cattle Ranch, there’s Matsirga Waterfalls, Gashaka Gumti Park, the list is endless.
The celebrities are the ones to help sell Nigeria’s tourism by promoting it and not that of other countries. The Minister of Tourism really needs to look into this, lest the tourism sector collapses.

The six-time Olympic gold-medalist wants to create a room for other athletes and at the same time leave the stage when the ovation is high by retiring as the fastest man ever.
‘If I have to be among the greats of (Muhammad) Ali and Pele and all these guys, I have to continue dominating until I retire’ Bolt told the Associated Press.
To crown his retirement, the 27-year-old plans on winning a gold medal in ‘Rio de Janeiro’ as well as next year’s Commonwealth Games. Including relays, Bolt owns a combined 14 gold medals in the sport’s two biggest events (Olympics and World Championship) and is the world record-holder in both the 100 and 200 meters.
