I don’t believe in the statement that all men are the same. Human beings are influenced by the societies they live in so let me tell you something about the Nigerian man I know, especially ones who live in Nigeria.
When you find a good Nigerian man, the good feeling can’t be described no matter how you try. This is obviously why they are much sought after by women of many nations. Knowing one or two things about what drives the Naija man is very important to your relationship with them.

Being that Nigerians can be quite conservative about relationships before marriage, get used to the fact that some Nigerian men will treat you differently in public than they treat you in private. There is always this underlying thing about being macho, not to show too much love to a woman in full view of family and friends lest he be called "woman wrapper". Nigerian men who show much love to their women are often described as being under a spell or juju of some sort. So you can imagine the stigma a man in our society carries, just for showing the world his true feelings for his woman.

This fact can affect a relationship adversely but how a woman chooses to understand and handle it might save the relationship. This kind of man, once in the presence of family, will want to show off how much power he has over you. He may bark orders at you or send you on silly errands in front of his friends.  In other countries, such conduct is often regarded as a sign of disrespect, but here, it only means the man has good control of his home. So when he does this to you, it may mean that he is only trying to prove something to society.

Husband Stabs Wife to Death For Bearing Female Children

A 48-year-old man (names withheld), has allegedly killed his wife for not being able to give birth to a male child.

The deceased, 46, simply identified as Mama Feyi, was heavily pregnant when she was allegedly stabbed to death by the husband during an early morning dispute.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the alleged murderer who hails from Abusoro area in Akure, Ondo State, has since been arrested and is presently being detained at the Ala divisional police station.

Eye witness accounts say the suspect has been having a running battle with his deceased wife for over two years shortly after the woman gave birth to their fourth daughter.

Sources say trouble began a month ago before the brutal murder when the husband complained aloud that his deceased wife is incapable of bearing him a male child and the incident led to a fierce altercation between the couple.

Shocked neighbours expressed disbelief at the death of mama Feyi when one of their next door neighbour, Mr. Isijola, said he was awakened by loud arguments coming from their room very early in the morning.

“I ignored them as it is a norm for them to always argue and have altercations. I decided to ignore them at first but when the noise was getting unbearable, I stepped into their room only to find the lifeless body of the woman on the floor, lying in the pool of her blood. I saw the man holding a knife and he threatened to stab me if I don’t leave.

Isijola continued, “It was when I discovered that he may abscond that I alerted the police who immediately came to arrest him.”

Naratting the incident, daughter of the deceased, Feyisara, said, “It all started on Sunday after my mummy had cooked rice. She asked me to go and collect money from my father to prepare stew and on getting to him, he started shouting. But he later gave me N500 which my mum refused to collect. They both argued and had a fight. I had to make a distress call to neighbours to settle the dispute”.

According to the daughter of the deceased, “the quarrel started at about 6am when my mum asked him to give her some money for her ante-natal but he refused. They started fighting and before we knew it, daddy brought out a knife and stabbed mummy to death.”

Is DJ Khaled the best man for Nicki Minaj? Rick Ross is giving his blessing to his friend following his proposal. During his visit to Power 106, the Maybach Music boss reacted to the viral video, in which the Cash Money DJ asked Nicki to marry him.
“I know Khaled. That’s been my brother. I know he’s been infatuated with Nicki. I guess we all got to sit back and wait,” said Ross.
While there’s debate whether he’s serious or not, Rozay doesn’t think he’s playing after seeing the 10-carat engagement ring he presented. “If you spend a half-a-million dollars, you dead, dead serious,” he said.
If they were to get married, he would buy them an extravagant gift like a car. “If they the knot, I gotta most definitely represent like a boss.”
Khaled originally wanted to propose to Nicki on set of the video for “Take It to the Head.” “It was some chatter going around, but I can’t say that I knew,” said Ross. “But it was some chatter. That’s my brother. As long as he happy, I’m happy.”
Nicki hasn’t responded to Khaled’s proposal, but Ross has some advice for her. “It’s time to sit that ass on his lap now.”

But this is the Sheepshead fish, and they have human teeth! Like us humans, they have a unique combination of teeth so that they can enjoy a wide-ranging, omnivorous diet. But unlike us, they have three rows of molars in the upper jaw and two rows of teeth on the bottom. Kinda creepy!

Lady Gaga Naked for ‘ARTPOP’ Promo

 Lady Gaga is baring it all in the name of ARTPOP. Mother Monster sits naked in a chair made up of mother boards, wearing only a pair of spectacles and black heels in a new promo photo. She shows off her unicorn thigh tattoo and “ARTPOP” arm tattoo while covering up her body.
Gaga tweeted the revealing image along with the August 19 release date for her first single, reportedly titled “Applause.” “1ST SINGLE FROM ARTPOP COMES AUG.19 #24DAYS,” she wrote.
She shot a video for the song earlier this month with directors Inez & Vinoodh, and will perform at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on August 25.

2013 Etisalat Prize for Literature: Judging Panel Announced

Etisalat Nigeria has assembled a strong panel of judges for the maiden edition of its pan-African prize for literature the Etisalat Prize for Literature. The panel of four is chaired by Pumla Gqola, an associate professor in the department of African Literature at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Gqola is one of South Africa’s most influential public intellectuals and feminists. She is the author of What is Slavery to Me? Postcolonial/Slave Memory in Post-Apartheid South Africa and A Renegade Called Simphiwe.
Other great minds in the literary panel include Sarah Ladipo Manyika, Zakes Mda, and Billy Kahora. Manyika, a literature teacher at the San Francisco State University, comes with a repertoire of published essays, academic papers, book reviews and short stories. An alumnus of the University of Birmingham and Bordeaux, she completed her doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley. Her first novel In Dependence was published by Legend Press as well as Cassava Republic Press in Africa and featured for Black History Month by the UK’s largest book store chain.
Mda is a prolific novelist, poet and playwright. He is also a founding member and serves on the advisory board of African Writers Trust. He has won major literary awards for his novels and plays including the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Africa. He was awarded an honorary doctorate of the University of Cape Town for his contributions to world literature and was a Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Ohio. He is also a Patron of the Etisalat Prize for Literature.

Rapper DMX arrested, accused of DUI; give me a break

DMX has faced various criminal charges in the past, including probation violation, illegal drug possession and animal cruelty.

Maricopa County, Arizona, authorities said he was arrested five times after August 2007. That included a May 2008 arrest on drug and animal cruelty charges, when Simmons attempted to barricade himself inside his Cave Creek home, sheriff's deputies said.

Simmons also ran into trouble while in prison, being placed on "lockdown status" and forced to eat only bread and water for "jailhouse infractions." In February 2009, he threw a food tray in anger at a corrections officer, according to the sheriff's office.
