Wizkid has been arrested, but wait a minute, we are not talking about the one also known as Ayo Balogun o! The guy arrested is a fake ‘Wizkid’ who has been operating in Owerri, Imo State, duping people and big business men who requested for him to come and play at their events. From what we gathered, the guy operated by opening up a Facebook account in the name of Wizkid and cloning of Ayo’s twitter account and often made people seeking his ‘service’ to pay money into a certain account number including flight tickets for him and his ‘crew’ and after that, disappears into thin air. Reports say a certain business man in the city, Chukwudi Ofoha, had contracted the impostor through one Ugochukwu Favour Mayor, the CEO of Ibari Ogwa, an event packaging company, who charged the victim the sum of N1 million with N300, 000 allegedly paid into the impostor’s bank account in a bid to get Wizkid to perform at a show. An insider narrated that shortly after the payment was made, the impostor switched off his cell phone, thereby raising the suspicion that he was not the real Wizkid. Based on this development, Mayor was said to have been arrested and detained at the state CID. But funny enough, the sharp ‘job man’ still called the business man demanding for the balance of N700, 000. There has been incessant cases of impostors claiming to be Wizkid and recently, one of them was nabbed in Lagos where he has been defrauding people especially students of the University of Lagos.
