2015: Ogun PDP Goes Spiritual As Pastors, Imams Pray Against ACN

The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday went spiritual in its supremacy battle with the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria.
Prayers by both Christian and Muslim Clerics were held at the party secretariat located along Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta.
The PDP also told the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun and the ruling ACN that they should forget about winning a second term in 2015.
The one-day inter-religious prayer session organized by the PDP National Youth Vanguard lasted for more than three hours and was conducted by pastors from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria- John Akinbode, Kinrin Emmanuel and Olusesi Obateye- and Muslim Clerics from Morcaz in Ogun State including Giyath Oyelayo and Moshood Uthman.
Quoting copiously from the Quran and the Bible, the clerics prayed for continued unity of the opposition party as well as their success in the 2015 polls. They further predicted victory for the PDP in the next general elections in the state.
The PDP chairman in Ogun, Adebayo Dayo, said at the prayer session that the people of the state have suffered untold hardship due to the improper handling of the state affairs by the Amosun administration.

Mr. Dayo boasted that with the spiritual war declared against the Amosun administration, the ruling party should be prepared to leave the saddle in the next general election.
“No matter what they do, God is there. If they put themselves in the hole, God will be looking at them. So, we are using today to tell God what we have been going through,” Mr. Dayo said. “We have been going through hell under the leadership of Governor Ibikunle Amosun and we want to beg God to come to our rescue and I tell you by the grace of God, come 2015 election, we’ll all be there. We shall all be in that office to chase him out.”
“Not long ago, we read it in the papers that PDP is dead in Ogun State. Ibikunle Amosun is deceiving himself. PDP is not dead. PDP is alive. But today is a day of prayer and not campaigns.
“All the bad wishes that they have been saying against our party, all the thinking of our enemies it will be returned to them by the grace of God. PDP is here to stay. PDP is now one. We are PDP under the leadership of our Baba, Chief Obasanjo. Prince Buruji Kashamu is our leader. We are all working together for the success of the PDP in Ogun State.
“Whether ACN likes it or not, there will be no room for them. There will be no room for second term. So, by the grace of God, we are going to take back that office come 2015,” Mr. Dayo said.
He emphasised that prayers had become imperative for the opposition party in its bid to regain its glory in the state; urging members not to relent in their spiritual battle against the ruling ACN. The PDP led the state from 2003 to 2011 when Gbenga Daniel was the governor.
“I will implore our people, both Muslims and Christians to help us. We all pray in our respective houses, but today is a special day for prayers. When you are going to war, you have to pray before going.
“We want to wage war against ACN in Ogun State and that is why we have called the religious clerics from the Muslim and Christian sides to come and tell God on our behalf to be with us in our battle. We are going to war against ACN in Ogun State and we should defeat them by the grace of God.
Mr. Dayo also pointed out that Mr. Amosun was a founding member of PDP in the state.
“We started PDP together and at one time or the other, he went to another party from where he came back to ACN. But we have been staying here all the time. We have been in PDP and we’ll stay in PDP to regain our lost glory come 2015,” he said.
He commended the PDP Youth Vanguard for taking the initiative to organize such an inter-religious prayer session.
“You have done what the elders should have done,” he said.
