American Authorities Intercepts Two Speedboats, Recovers Cocaine Worth Almost $1 billion.

Via-CNN. Authorities intercepted two speedboats -- sinking one -- and recovered about 13,000 pounds of cocaine worth almost $1 billion.

The weekend drug bust, resulted from two separate interdiction efforts, the first unfolding Friday north of the Galapagos Islands, west of Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean.

A Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine crew spotted a 30-foot speedboat carrying almost 7,000 pounds of cocaine worth more than $500 million. After realizing that they'd been spotted, three people on the boat started chucking packages of cocaine into the water. They also "began washing the boat to eliminate traces of cocaine," the release said.

A law enforcement helicopter, responding to a call from the Customs and Border Protection crew, tracked down the boat and fired shots to disable it. Three suspects were arrested as the boat sunk into the ocean, according to the release.

The next evening, a Customs and Border Protection crew in the Western Caribbean saw a three-engine speedboat moving rapidly near the Panamanian-Colombian border. The boat's driver tried to evade police by moving closer to the Panamanian coastline and maneuvering "in and out of shoals and other obstructions," according to the agency.

The crew told Panamanian police to intercept the boat, which was carrying more than 1,000 bundles of cocaine weighing more than 6,000 pounds. Authorities estimate their value at more than $445 million.

The Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine crews, called P-3s, patrol a 42 million-square-mile swath of the Western Caribbean and Eastern Pacific in search of drugs destined for U.S. shores. In fiscal 2012, P-3 crews seized almost 59 tons of cocaine valued at $8.8 billion.

British fisherman lands a 115-pound ‘UK Monster’

Wels catfish with distinguishing scar, later released, is 'probably most well-known catfish in England'

A British man hooked the biggest fish of his life—a fish said to probably be the most well-known catfish in England—and then needed an extra pair of hands to drag it onto shore after his son managed to get the behemoth into the net.
Rodney Hills, his son, and a fellow fisherman from their group lifted the massive wels catfish onto the shore of Oakwood Lake in Norfolk, U.K., and weighed it with a digital scale hanging from a tri-pod. The fish went a whopping 114 pounds, 11 ounces.
“It was hard work getting it in,” Hills, 67, told the Bucks Free Press. “It was quite a struggle.”

It took Hills 30 minutes to reel the fish to shore on 40-pound-test braided line. His son Adrian, using the biggest catfish net on the market, netted the massive wels catfish and immediately recognized the obvious.
“Once we had got it in the net, Adrian said to me you better go and wake someone else up, as we are going to have trouble getting this out of the water,” Hills told the Bucks Free Press.
Hills summoned another member of their fishing party from a nearby tent. The 10 fishermen from the Catfish Conservation Group spent the night camped out on the shoreline, fortunately allowing for additional help.
While they were weighing and photographing the fish, they noticed a distinguishing mark near its dorsal fin. It was a circular scar made famous in the U.K. by a DVD called “UK Monsters” filmed by Mick Brown, who had caught the same catfish and nicknamed it The Duke, since that is Brown’s moniker.

And as Brown did before him, Hills released the fish so it can fight again.
Hills informed GrindTV Outdoor in an email that the biggest fish he ever landed previously was a 33-pound carp. He also indicated that this wels catfish he caught and released has good taste.
The bait it fell for was a chunk of Matteson’s Smoked Pork Sausage.

Omotola: There is no major secret. That’s the truth. Most of them were inherited. I inherited the good stuff, so also the bad one. If you see my mom’s picture, she actually looked like a young girl. Till she passed on, we used to call her forever young,even before that song came out.
My mom had a teenager look, even when she was almost 50. She was a very hippy and curvy woman. That, she passed on to me with vengeance. That’s why it has been a very big struggle for me to stay as slim as my job requires.

Omotola: I have also heard that but there is nothing like that. I have never done any surgery or implant. It’s just me being extremely careful and conscious of my body, job and everything. Naturally, as a human being, sometimes i get it perfectly right, sometimes, the body just does what it wants to do. I just keep trying.

EIGHT CHANGES WE WANT TO SEE IN IOS 7 IPHONE

The World Wide Developer's Conference is next week, and preparations are already under way. While Apple is predictably tight-lipped about what exactly it will announce, it's all but certain we'll hear about an update for iOS 7. The question is, will the new features and tweaks be enough to keep people from jumping ship to other smartphones?

Probably the biggest rumors are about a newly redesigned look with flattened buttons and interface elements, and a move away from the skeuomorphic design aesthetic (think of the "leather-bound" Find My Friends app) of the core Apple apps. But with Android and Windows Phone 8 continuing to bring new OS innovations to the latest devices, a redesign alone won't be enough to keep Apple in the game.
What Apple needs to do in iOS 7 is play a little catchup with other devices to bring some of Android's and Windows Phone's best features to iPhones, then add new features to give people more flexibility with the apps already on the device. There's no way of knowing whether Apple has new killer features or apps up its sleeve, but I have some ideas for improving the OS now to make it more attractive for current iPhone users and people in the market for a new smartphone.

A fancy new interface is not enough
The Home Screen hasn't changed much since the first iPhone in 2007, so it's definitely a good idea to refresh the look overall. I think it's starting to get a little boring, and from what I've read around the tech sites and in my comment threads, I'm not alone.
Beyond the flattening of buttons and modernizing the look, iOS 7 needs to give users some flexibility. I think there should also be customization options or themes you can switch in and out at will. Imagine being able to pick your color scheme so your iPhone screen looks different from your friends' screens. Sure, strictly aesthetic changes are superficial, but even without my themes idea, a new look would go a long way.
Still, if the new redesign is the only big news for iOS at WWDC, I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed, myself included.

A new top tools screen
One of the most annoying things about iOS is digging through settings menus to do common tasks. Things like adjusting the brightness, toggling Bluetooth, and managing Wi-Fi connections require far too many taps. I think it needs an interface button (or slide-out menu) that brings these tools front and center. Not only that, but this new "top tools" screen needs to be customizable so you can add and remove the settings you use most. Some Android phones (depending on manufacturer) already have similar features, and all you need to do is swipe downward to get a bunch of quick tools for easy access. Apple desperately needs to make something similar for iPhones.

THE SENATE REFUSED FIRST LADY 4BNGN FOR FIRST LADIES MISSION

The Senate has rejected the N4bn appropriated for the construction of the First Ladies Mission in Africa.
The Mission is being headed by Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
The amount was proposed in the estimate of the Federal Capital Territory’s, FCT, 2013 budget appropriation.
This was as the lawmakers appropriated N259.65bn with a surplus of N48.71bn for the FCT 2013 statutory budget.
This year’s budget is less than that of 2012 fiscal year, which was N306.41bn.
The senators described the financial allocation for the construction of the secretariat in Abuja as a misplaced priority.
The lawmakers said that the N4bn would be distributed for the provision of infrastructure and meet the pressing needs in satellite towns.
The senators also explained that they disapproved the allocation because the land upon which the proposed secretariat would be sited is currently under litigation.

The undergraduates, who are undergoing different courses in different institutions of higher learning, were rounded up in Ibadan, Oyo State in a sting operation.
They are: Sunkanmi Odewale - 200 level Mechanical Engineering student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State; Olowofola Tolu - 300 level Economics student of Lead City University, Ibadan; Ekundayo Damilola - 300 level Computer Science/Economics student, Lead City University, Ibadan; Adelabu Kolawole – HND II Purchasing and Supply student of Ibadan Polytechnic, Ibadan; Bankole Oluwaseyi Fisayo – OND II Marketing student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
Others are: Okewole Adesesan - Real Estate Manager with Sesan Okewole & Sons Limited; Emmanuel Ubaman – trader; Fisayo Ajibola – Travel Agent with Milleage Travel and Tours; and Oyebisi Femi – a fish farmer.
The suspects who regularly milk their unsuspecting victims via the internet were arrested in different locations at Oluyole Estate extension, Ibadan, Oyo State. Items recovered from them include eight laptops, one mini-laptop, two Ipads; two Honda cars; a Toyota Camry and Toyota Venza cars. The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
